How Can I Stop Nibbling Food To Lose Weight?

If you are serious about losing weight it is essential to bring snacking under control.  We are told from an early age that snacking between meals is a bad thing and with good reason.  Eating unhealthy snacks such as cakes, biscuits, crisps etc can add 100’s of unnecessary calories to the amount of calories we take in each day and make weight loss next to impossible.  If you find that you really can’t stop snacking there are lots of healthy food alternatives that you can try as well as some of the tips below.

To help stop nibbling on foods make sure that you are drinking enough water.  Being properly hydrated is good for the body and skin and it can help to control appetite.

One way to control snacking is to eat more foods that release their energy over a long period of time.  Foods that are rich in fibre and slow release carbohydrates such as porridge, bananas and wholegrain foods such as brown bread, pasta and rice will leave you feeling fuller for longer and reduce the need for snacking between meals.

Having 5-6 small meals through the day instead of 3 large ones helps to keep blood sugar levels constant and hunger under control.  Changes in the blood sugar level can cause hunger and cravings for sweet and sugary foods that can be very hard to resist.

The 10 minute test can help people cut down on their snacking.  If you are feeling peckish first drink a glass of water and then wait 10 minutes before eating anything.  Having a glass of water may take the hungry feeling away entirely but if it doesn’t you can have a piece of fruit or a yoghurt.

Cutting down on snacking between meals is a great way to save lots of calories and can really help you with your diet plans.  Dieting and losing fat is much easier when you have a well thought out plan and that plan should definitely include stop nibbling on unhealthy snacks.
